Sam Okwaraji: 28 years after

This day in History:
Exactly 28 years ago ( I still remember that day like yesterday), Nigeria lost one of her most dedicated&patrotic footballers – late Samuel Okwaraji, who died in an Italia’90 world cup qualifier against Angola on Sat 12th August, 1989.

I remember that match like yesterday. It was played at the National Stadium, surulere, Lagos. Nigeria’s Stephen Keshi captained side won 1-0 (having drawn 2-2 in Angola some mths back) and only needed to win that particular match and get a draw in their last qualifier later to qualify for Italia’90 World Cup. I remembered goalkeeper David Ngodiga’s penalty save.

Okwaraji died playing for Nigeria, even free of charge unlike this present set of over pampered, over rated mercenaries that hold Nigeria to ransome because of money. Do I blame them? Afterall, Okwaraji that was a patriot isn’t properly honoured and remembered. The best we could do was just a bust of his statue at the now abandoned National Stadium, Surulere , Lagos .

Not even a big structure like a stadium or institution named after him, yet we have many such structures named after polilooters and thieves that stole and looted us. O ma se o ( great pity )

Awolowo was investigated for Corruption under Coker Inquiry, later tried for Treason in a regular court, he never said it was becase he was a Christian or Yoruba. He defended himself, and when his lawyer was denied entry visa to Nigeria, and his first son, an acclaimed international lawyer, was coming to the court to defend him, he died in a road accident on his way to the Court..Abraham Adesanya broke the news to Awo inside the Court, he expected Awo to start weeping but he did not.

Awo called the attention of the Judge to the development and asked for permission to defend himself and other Accused.

“Segun is dead already, we that are alive must defend ourselves so that we dont die too. This is treason, we must defend ourselves first before we mourn my beloved son”

LEADERS are made!

AWO was a true leader that served his people altruistically unlike the egocentric “LEADERS here in Nigeria…… You know them now.

BALEWA never struggled to be Prime Minister. BELLO was qualified but gave it to BALEWA……
SHAGARI never wanted to be President…….but he ruled!

ABIOLA wanted it since 1983……he never got there even in 1993….We loved him but he did not get it…..

OBJ never lobbied for or desperate to be President. Falae wanted to since 1992 but he never got it…..OBJ did.

ODILI struggled and spent billions to get it….he never got it…..Yar’adua was not even physically strong enough yet he got it without spending his personal cash. ODILI got nothing!

JONATHAN has neither the cash nor the finesse to be President but he got it. He defeated desperate IBB and ATIKU in the primaries and BUHARI in the general!

BUHARI resigned to fate. He declared that he will not contest again. That is when GOD handpicked him and made him the President after HE had earlier watched him exhausting his personal energy and killing his desperation!

The time when JONATHAN had no strength, he defeated mighty BUHARI….But when he had all the strength and money…he lost to a BUHARI who had given up!
Osinbajo was eating amala in his house when he was made the Vice President and eventually an acting president.
Leave all struggles for God to do them for you. Allow all the stacked money to be used for the benefit of the people. When it is your time God will surely spend your money as he has done to Balewa, Shagari, Obasanjo,Yar’adua, Jonathan and Buhari/Osinbajo.

This is for our reflection. I Pity my country! Nigeria

I pity those who allow their destiny to be determined and controlled by so-called LEADER who careless about their future & that of their unborn generation!

When a Church is Spiritually empty.
God Jehovah El-Shaddai despite his love for King David, a man He anointed as King over his people did not allow David son of Jesse to build a sanctuary/Temple for Him, and you wonder why? After a successful King David looked at how blessed he was and he felt the next thing was a place for Jehovah, but God told Prophet Nathan to stop David
In 2 Samuel 7 and details of the refusal could be found in 1 Chronicles 22:8 because King David had blood in his hands and It was further mentioned in 1 Isaiah 56:7 that only a man of peace and honesty can build God’s sanctuary because a Church is a house of prayer for all nations, to God, David did not pass the test of peace and honesty.
What then do you think would have happened if David had ignored the advice of Prophet Nathan not to build the Temple? You know the answer from the way God dealt with King Saul over his action or inaction.
And a Temple built without the stamp of Jehovah, would been an empty house without the Holy Spirit and blessings of Jehovah in it, like the King before him, it could have earned David the curses of King of Kings.
However, God told David, his son, Solomon would do, when his son King Solomon did, God blessed him more, and even made a covenant to answer any prayer made in the Temple built by King Solomon.
Solomon not only built, he challenged God to fulfill his words and promises to make the Temple a place all prayers would be answered 1 King 8:22-53.Solomon asked God in time of famine, war, peace, justice, defeat, sin, if they turn to Him in the Temple he built, let their prayers be answered.
God in his mercy for the second time appeared to Solomon in Gibeon 1 King 9:2 and made a covenant with him…..”…I have heard your prayer and petition, and I have set this Temple apart to be holy, this place you have built, where my name is honored forever, I will watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.”
However, in 1 King 9:7. He said he can make mockery of the place if they turn their eyes away from him.And what is the lesson of this post? You can’t steal the public money and donate it to the Church, or the Pastor hoping to be blessed, your donation may even be weakening the spiritual strength of that very Church and the people therein.
The Church buildingbuilt with stolen money or donations from corrupt politicians or funds from drug/cocain deals and mafias and other illegal deals, may be the largest in the world, but may infact be empty without the Holy Spirit, prayers would not be answered in it, like God told Solomon he can make a mockery of the Church. It is for this reason after so many years in some Church things did no change for you and you wonder why?
The more a church or Sanctuary takes from the evil the more the loss of spiritual energy of the Church and the people therein, a smaller Church may contain your blessing than a bigger Church built with resources stolen from the people.
After Solomon finished with the Temple he was blessed to build his palace, the best in the world, meaning, when you put God first, he can do more for you, but u must come to Him with a clean hand.

For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease. – Job 14:7
One day I decided to quit – quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
“God”, I said. “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?” His answer surprised me.
“Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”
“Yes”, I replied.
“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. However, I did not quit on the bamboo.
“In the second year, the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. Again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In year three, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. The same in year four.
“Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.
“Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo…I will never quit on you.
“Don’t compare yourself to others.” He said. “The bamboo had a different purpose from the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful. Your time will come”, God said to me. “You will rise high.”
“How high should I rise?” I asked.
“How high will the bamboo rise?” He asked in return.
“As high as it can?” I questioned.
“Yes.” He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”
I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me.
And He will never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are essential to life

Well, it is no longer news that last week Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 the biggest contract ever in the history of world football was signed. Neymar Da Silva Santos Junior officially signed for Paris Saint Germain from Spanish giant Barcelona after they met his buyout clause of €222M. Hours later the news of his weekly earnings of about €515,000 or 248 million naira broke the internet. have made out of it here at home.

Now, if Neymar without a WAEC result (according to those who claim to know) earns 248 million per week, how much does Bill Gates (who actually went as far as Harvard) earn? Mind you, Bill Gates went to school as far as Harvard, the whole talk of him dropping out is widely misrepresented. He didn’t drop out because he was not good enough, he didn’t drop out because he was irresponsible, in fact he had a meeting with the school authority when it became obvious that he needed more time to work on the Microsoft idea and in his exact words he told the school that he was going on a ‘leave of absence’ and should return if the idea failed to work as planned. He didn’t leave the school empty, he left with the knowledge he had acquired, he left having made friends and built a network of like minds, he left having access to mentors from the school (for me, these are some of the most important reasons of going to university in the first place, and not just for that paper called certificate). With that knowledge and skill acquired directly or indirectly by going to school, Bill Gates was able to build Microsoft and in 2013 he earned 11.5 billion dollars in a single year. That figure would give you 1.38 million dollars per hour. What it means is that the 248 million naira Neymar earns in a week is what Bill Gates earns in 30 minutes.

Don’t be deceived.

Why would I rather be a Bill Gates than a Neymar? Why would I rather point my kids to Bill Gates than to Neymar? It is simple. If you go by the figures, you have already seen it above. If you want to look at the future, then you will know that Neymar is 25 today, but will he still be playing football at this level at 35? What if in an unfortunate situation where he breaks his leg tomorrow (no one prays for that, but it does happen), that will be the end of everything, football doesn’t even provide for pension or gratuity. But Gates can sleep for the rest of his life and the billions will keep flowing because alert has been set on auto run, he has ‘programmed’ his business directly into his bank account – with his knowledge (you need education to set up that kind of system). What if you are looking at relevance and significance, how many millionaires have Neymar made or will he ever make in his lifetime? Bill Gates has made 3 billionaires and over 12,000 millionaires.

I asked someone what Neymar will do with this money, and he said Neymar already has a private jet, now is the time to get a yacht and start paying for the penthouse of all the 5-star hotels in the world. Do you think someone who is well schooled will choose to spend the money that way?

Don’t be deceived.

Education is still the key, education is still superior, education has birthed technology and technology is where the money is and not football. The most valuable club in the world according to Forbes 2017 rating is Manchester United and they are worth a whopping 3.69 billion dollars to edge both Barcelona and Real Madrid. But how whopping is that compared with the worth of Apple, Google, or Microsoft? In fact the total worth of the top 20 football clubs in the world (including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, PSG, Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus, Liverpool) is 29.6 billion dollars. Mark Zuckerberg can simply pull out a cheque from his back pocket and buy those 20 clubs without even discussing with the board of Facebook (that sounds like an insult but that is the fact). That is how powerful ideas are, that is how powerful knowledge can be, that is how powerful education can be. What would you rather choose for your child?

Don’t be deceived.

The standard of education in Nigeria has dropped so badly that it is beginning to lose its relevance, but rather than turn our backs on it completely, rather than encourage our children not to go to school, rather than insult it the more, we should champion a course on how to make it what it ought to be and more attractive. We should teach our children the real importance of education and not just to come out and get a good job.

Trends are changing, the world has evolved and our educational system must evolve and not allowed to dissolve.

Don’t be deceived. Send your children to good school if you can afford it, and after that allow him or her the freedom of choice and if he or she chooses to play football he will be buying football clubs and earning 10x what Neymar earns today.

I choose to go to school, learn how to build and buy existing businesses. I choose to go to school, learn how to employ the grace God has given me to serve humanity. I choose to go to school and learn how best my ideas can be a solution to the problems of the society.

What do you choose, for yourself

The famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a picture of him sleeping in the street under his famous bronze statue, and wrote sadly (How times changed).

The reason he wrote the sentence was not only because he was old, but because when the governor of California opened the hotel with the statue in front of him. The hotel officials told Arnold: “At any time you can come and have a room reserved in your name”. When Arnold left Government and went to the hotel, the administration refused to give him a room arguing that the hotel was fully booked.

He brought a cover and slept under the statue and asked people to imagine it. He wants to convey a message that when he was in a position they were praising him, and when he lost this position they forgot and did not fulfill their promise to him. Yes, times have changed. Do not trust your position or your owner or your power or your intelligence. All of this will not last.
In life after death.

The lesson, live your life for YOU because if you leave your position today, those you think will die for you will be the first to cast the stone!

Okay. So I am still trying to wrap my head round these figures. The Government and UK authorities have thus far permanently or temporarily seized N94.8Billion of Diezani assets? N94.8Billion??

And the EFCC are still going after other property and accounts she owns across the world. There is still more Diezani loot?

If one woman stole this much, how much of our commonwealth has been stolen by all of them thieves?

These people were planning to loot us into oblivion.”
