COMING GENERATION SCARES ME…REAL HARD!

While we have been busy talking about Nigeria of today, I wonder if we have spared a thought about how this country will be in the next TWENTY-FIVE years. On October 1, 1979, when Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari was sworn-in as president, Goodluck Jonathan was just a 22 year-old undergrad of University of Port-Harcourt. Shagari was 54 years old. Ayo Fayose was 19 years old. Bukola Saraki was 17. Yemi Osibajo was 22. The generation of the likes of Shagari, Richard Akinjide, Adisa Akinloye, Sabo Barkin Zuwo, Ifeanyi Nwobodo, Ume Ezeoke, Akin Omoboriowo, Olusola Saraki, Sunday Awoniyi, Garba Nadama, Awal Ibrahim and so on has gone for good!

Some of us in our 40s and 50s, when in school, either in the university or secondary school, had lofty dreams, both personal and societal. We were always motivated by nationalists and inventors who had impacted positively on the cause of humanity. We were voracious readers of novels and other books.

Nelkon for our Ordinary Level Physics, Lambert for Chemistry, B.O ADELEKE and Goh Cheng Leong for our Geography, Phebean Ogundipe for Practical English, Achebe and Soyinka for Literature and others like that. We were always flaunting our knowledge of current affairs. Inter-school quiz, Literary and Debating competition were the in-thing. Nowadays, students can hardly string a sentence together in English without errors.

Fast forward 35 years on and you are shocked and disturbed. Have you ever spoken to or engaged a 20 year-old boy? Ask him what motivates him and he is likely to mention music, hip hop to be precise. He has hundreds of downloaded songs on his phone. He can sing all of them off hand. He knows all the singles of 9ice, Neato C, Timaya, Davido, Whiz Kid off had.

The babes among them take pride in enticing men old enough to be their father on social media with buxomly physique. But she does not know anything about history of nationalism in the country. Ideas about good society, responsible family and good conduct do not motivate him. He just wants to make money because his friend who does yahoo is rich and rides a good car, her friend who has numerous ‘aristos’ drives a SUV! The things that interest him/her are things that do not add value.

She has google but never uses it for advancement of knowledge but to download porn and other inanities. Yet, in TWENTY years time, they are the ones that will be contesting to become governors, senators, Reps members and even president. They belong to a generation that does not care about morality. They belong to a generation that is motivated only by money and its acquisition.

By 2035 to 2040, they will be our senators, Reps, governors and so on. I wonder if we have ever spared a thought for how this country will look like under them. I told a man recently and these are my words: IF A GUY WHO IS IN LAGOS COULD USE FALSE PRETENCE TO OBTAIN $20,000 FROM SOMEONE IN UNITED STATES, WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN IF SUCH A GUY BECOMES A STATE GOVERNOR AND IS IN CHARGE OF AN ALLOCATION HE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE TO OBTAIN UNDER FALSE PRETENCE? WHICH HIS STATE IS STATUTORILY ENTITLED TO.

How did we get into this mess? How can we get out of this predicament? I am worried, deeply worried. Are you?

Exposed: Shady&Highly Corruption in Nigeria’s Oil Deals 38 : Jonathan, Diezani, Ayeni, Others Named In Half A Trillion Naira Oil Sales Theft

A report by Premium Times has shown that over half a trillion naira vanished under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. The report went thus:

Goodluck-Jonathan

PREMIUM TIMES has uncovered one of the most fraudulent crude oil deals carried out by the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, which saw cronies of the president pocket billions of naira through a domestic crude oil transportation contract that violated Nigeria’s procurement and economic regulations.

Our estimates indicate that the contracts, which the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has now admitted were unnecessarily exorbitant and inappropriately awarded, cost Nigeria N509.3 billion.

How much service the companies offered to pocket that amount remains unclear even to the state oil company, insiders say.

The deal, later disguised as security contract and channeled through the NNPC, saw two companies belonging to Idahosa Okunbor and Tunde Ayeni illegally rack up billions of naira to purportedly transport crude oil from Escravos to Warri refinery, and Bonny Island to Port Harcourt refinery, by ship, since 2011.

The deal involved the transportation of five million barrels of crude oil, monthly, from drilling terminals to the refineries using ships, and circumventing direct linking pipelines, at the cost of N3, 063.00 ($15.4 USD) per barrel of crude.

The cost of this contract is several times higher than it takes to transport crude oil through the more efficient pipelines which PPMC, a subsidiary of the NNPC operates. The cost of transporting a barrel of crude through the pipeline is as low as N5.97.

Although, awarding the firms the job to transport crude oil by ships was a very expensive alternative, the administration pressed on, ignoring the fact that it increased the cost of transporting only a fraction of locally refined crude oil by several billions of naira monthly and was economically unjustifiable.

Nigeria crude oil pipeline distribution map Nigeria crude oil pipeline distribution map. Source: Oandoplc.comWhile the contract lasted, the NNPC, at the same time, transported crude through a national pipeline that originated from Escravos and landed in Warri Refinery before proceeding to Kaduna Refinery.

The Escravos-Warri Refinery arm of the project was conceived in 2010, shortly after Goodluck Jonathan became president. The contract kicked off properly in January 2011 and NNPC insiders say it was explained to the few who knew about it back then as a way of circumventing vandalized pipelines to keep Nigeria’s refineries amply fed with crude oil.

The contract was never advertised and no competitive bidding was done, a clear violation of Nigeria’s procurement law. Cheaper options were neglected. Two companies, PPP Fluid Mechanics and Ocean Marine Securities, OMS, were awarded the job by presidential and ministerial discretion.

The two companies initially got N1.1 billion monthly payment each by NNPC, for a three-month trial, documents sighted by PREMIUM TIMES show.

PPP Fluid Mechanics got the contract after offering to transport the crude using Very Large Crude Carriers – super tankers – used in transporting crude oil. OMS got the contract to provide security for the 22.2km (12 nautical miles) journey, despite every other waterways security arrangement that existed at the time, including the Nigerian navy which patrols the country’s waterways.

“This brazen case of impropriety has, till date, been sustained by a tight web of secrecy,” one of our sources said.

“I do not have details” of the contract, NNPC spokesman, Ohi Alegbe, told PREMIUM TIMES more than one month after receiving our inquiries, and weeks after he later announced the corporation was canceling the contract.

Paying the cabal

Idahosa Wells Okunbo Idahosa Wells OkunboThis contract was conceptualized and executed in a classical mafioso style.

After the then Petroleum Minister, Deziani Alison-Madueke, in 2010, got the then President Jonathan to approve the deal, the NNPC secretly invited bids from international shipping contractors. PPP FM, managed by two Israelis at the time, was handpicked for the logistics part of the job. OMS, managed by Messrs. Okunbor and Ayeni, was invited to handle the security aspect.

There are no records of OMS ever bidding for the contract. Insiders, who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES, also claim OMS never bidded.

They were selected by a board led by Mrs. Madueke, which also had NNPC Group Managing Director at the time, Austin Oniwon, and eight others, including Yinka Omorogbe, the legal adviser to the corporation.

The contract was initially explained as a three-month trial to circumvent crude theft from pipelines that were believed to be under serious threat from militants and oil thieves in the Niger Delta. It, however, lasted till August 2015, almost five years later.

How it escaped public scrutiny for the period it lasted is what is likely to shock many Nigerians.

Contract documents indicating the contract was supposed to last only three months were issued on December 2, 2010. Shipping began the following month – January 2011 – after PPP FM provided one mother vessel and three smaller shuttle vessels.

Contract documents seen by PREMIUM TIMES showed the each arm of the contract for the trial period was to cost NNPC N1.1 billion ($5.82 million USD) monthly. This is at the rate of N900 per barrel ($5.2 USD per barrel) split equally between shipping and security.

But the cost of the deal quickly skyrocketed after the three-month trial period.

Shortly after the project began, Messrs. Okunbor and Ayeni sought to own the entire project, and initiated a hostile takeover of PPP FM.

Eight months later, they completed the takeover and PPP FM’s founders, the Israelis, were kicked out.It is not clear how much the Israelis were paid to give up their company. It is also unclear whether they were merely used as fronts in the beginning.

The exit of the Israelis paved the way for one of the bloodiest financial hemorrhages Nigeria suffered during the Jonathan administration, and was perhaps still suffering till July 2015 when NNPC called it off after becoming aware this newspaper was investigating the deal.

With the Israelis out of the way, and believing the deal was now secret, the NNPC jacked up the cost of the deal to N1,496.10 ($7.52 USD) per barrel for transportation and the same amount for security.

This increase raised the cost of the contract to N6.7 billion monthly.

In August 2014, the former petroleum minister admitted to an oil and gas audience in the U.S. that NNPC was spending an average of $7.52 per barrel to transport crude oil locally to refineries by ship.

She was silent on the security costs. But multiple sources confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES the security cost was just as much as the shipping.

In four years, the NNPC shelled out at least N303 billion to the two companies owned by Messrs. Okunbor and Ayeni for the Escravos-Warri arm of the deal alone.

Thus, at the times the price of crude oil hovered around $50 per barrel, the NNPC paid these firms about a third of the cost of each barrel ($15.04) as shipment cost – in addition to all other cost of handling crude that existed before the contract.

These sums were paid despite the oil corporation reporting that it kept pumping crude oil from Escravos to Warri refinery through the pipeline, concurrently with the shipping deal.

Recently, during the opening of the renovated Port Harcourt Refinery, Mr. Okunbor confirmed to Thisday that his company did not even ship the total amount projected by the contract. But they got paid even while not shipping crude.

“Currently, we lift 950,000 barrels to the Warri refinery twice a month,” Mr. Okunbor told Thisday. The projected amount was 2.2 million barrels, apparently 300 thousand barrels higher than total actual shipment admitted by Mr. Okunbor and his partners.

While the deal was expected to supply Warri Refinery with 105.6 million barrels of crude, NNPC records show that the refinery only received 61.2 million barrels, combined. At least half of what was expected by ship alone was not delivered.

Warri Refinery Crude Oil Inflow Chart. Data Source: NNPC Warri Refinery Crude Oil Inflow. Data Source: NNPCThe Port Harcourt Refinery Deal

After running the Escravos-Warri Refinery deal successfully and secretly for two years, the NNPC opened the Bonny Island – Port Harcourt refinery route under the same covers. The Bonny Island – Port Harcourt refinery route was to transport 2.8 million barrels of crude oil monthly at the same cost with the same contractors, PPP FM and OMS.

Again, there were no competitive bidding before Mr. Ayeni and his partners were handed the contracts.

With the Bonny – Port Harcourt Refinery route added to the portfolio, Messrs. Okunbor and Ayeni were charged with transporting five million barrels of crude oil to the two refineries, via ships, monthly.

At that rate, NNPC was paying both companies N15.3 billion ($77 million USD) monthly on both fronts.

Like in the Warri refinery’s case, Messrs. Okunbor and Ayeni did not deliver the full amount of crude expected of the illegal contract.

“Currently, we lift… approximately 1.6 million barrels twice a month to the Port Harcourt refinery using our VLCC,” Mr. Okunbor told Thisday in July.

Port Harcourt Refinery Crude Oil Inflow Chart Port Harcourt Refinery Crude Oil Inflow. Data Source: NNPcCocktail of illegalities

These local crude oil transportation deals Messrs. Okunbor and Ayeni held until July were fraught with fraud, illegalities and irregularities, experts in the oil industry say.

Those familiar with the deal said the NNPC board, in the first place, had no businesses approving the initial contract in December 2010 because the cost exceeded their approval limit of N5 million, allowed by its laws, and $20 million US dollars allowed by Nigeria’s procurement laws.

The decision to extend the contract beyond three months was the second major step in a cascade of fraudulent activities that defined the contract.

In 2013, the NNPC attempted to regularize these illegal crude oil transportation contracts. In October that year, it published an invitation to tender bids for the two crude oil transportation contracts in major Nigerian dailies.

Days later, just as many shipping companies were putting final touches to their bids, the corporation withdrew the call through another newspaper publication.

The state oil company did not give any reason for the withdrawal of the call for bids. But top NNPC sources told PREMIUM TIMES a directive demanding the withdrawal came from the presidency describing the project as a “security contract”.

Despite the only official explanation for the exorbitant contract being the drive to keep the refineries amply supplied with crude oil in the face of ‘failing pipelines’, both the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries received crude oil volumes far less than the contract was expected to deliver.

Between January 2011 and December 2014, the Warri Refinery received crude supplies above two million barrels in six months only, NNPC crude distribution data shows.

In at least three months of 2014, the Warri Refinery did not receive a drop of crude supply. The Warri refinery received an average of 1.2 million barrels of crude oil monthly in those four years.

Port Harcourt refinery never received crude supply up to the full amount expected of the illegal contract while it lasted. In fact, NNPC data did not show any significant leap in supply after the transportation contract was initiated in 2013.

Within the period, the Port Harcourt refinery did not receive a drop of crude oil in three months. It received an average of 536 thousand barrels of crude monthly, at least 2 million barrels less than the contract was expected to deliver.

The NNPC data of crude received monthly by the refineries, obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, showed that in the last four years, the refineries rarely received crude oil close to the volumes awarded for shipment alone from both Messrs. Okunbor and Ayeni, not to talk of pipeline sources that fed the refineries.

Satellite images obtained by PREMIUM TIMES showed that in some instances, no security boats escorted the ships deployed by PPP FM to transport the crude from production terminals to refinery jetties. Yet, NNPC purportedly paid billions of naira for the security escorts.

“Some of the vessels involved also sat anchored offshore the Niger Delta—presumably at a significant cost to the nation—for long periods when NNPC was not sending crude to the refineries at all,” a recent report by Natural Resources Governance Institute said.

Besides being economically unjustifiable, many industry experts PREMIUM TIMES contacted for comment for this story were shocked by its details and ramifications.

“What happened to the crude oil received by these contractors in the months the refineries were down? Why did the refineries not receive full volumes of crude oil lifted by these contractors?” one expert asked.

Follow the money

Tunde Ayeni Tunde Ayeni

Tunde Ayeni, one of the owners of the contracting firm in this deal is a long-standing ally of former governor of Bayelsa State, Depreiye Alamieyeseigha, and former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr. Jonathan succeeded Mr. Alamieyeseigha as governor of oil-rich Bayelsa state after the latter was removed from office in 2005 following a money laundering scandal. Since his release from prison, Mr. Alamieyeseigha has remained active on the political scene.

Mr. Ayeni, a lawyer, gained notoriety following the corruption trial that brought down Mr. Alamieyeseigha as Bayelsa governor. He was briefly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the matter and later mentioned in court documents as admitting helping Mr. Alamieyeseigha to execute some deals.

Mr. Ayeni was never convicted and has since then remained one of Nigeria’s most ambitious businessmen, investing heavily in almost all key sectors of the Nigerian economy – oil and gas, telecoms and power. He’s currently the chairman of Skye Bank and was awarded Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) – a national recognition – by the Jonathan administration.

In the build up to the 2015 general elections, Mr. Ayeni chaired a fundraising dinner organised by Mr. Jonathan’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party, and made a shocking donation of N2 billion ostensibly to fund the president’s re-election. He explained that half of the donation was raised by himself and an anonymous partner while the other half was raised by himself and other anonymous friends.

Mr. Ayeni, whose law firm, Legal Resources Alliance, doubles as the company secretary to PPP FM, turned away PREMIUM TIMES reporters, who visited to request his comments for this story, from his 38 Birao Street, Wuse II, Abuja office.

Tunde Ayeni, right, fraternizing with President Buhari in the State House, Abuja, on Friday August 28 2015
The NNPC also declined to comment. After weeks of promises and excuses to respond to the website’s inquiry, the state oil company tried to preempt our investigation by announcing it was calling off the illegal contracts.

In the statement announcing the cancellation, the corporation admitted the contractors were inappropriately engaged and that the contract costs were exorbitant. It however did not say whether it planned to recover monies paid to the contractors even while not transporting crude.

The corporation’s spokesperson, Ohi Alegbe, declined to provide further details. He told PREMIUM TIMES the corporation had no details of the contracts beyond the announcement cancelling the deals.

How Tinubu humbled, dealt with &disgraced a political opponent : A lesson to all Tinubu’s political opponents

I’m an ardent follower of political event in my country – Nigeria,in the past&present. This has made me to have a very clear and accurate history &view of political events. Without being boastful, I’ve made very accurate predictions of political scenario which all came to pass with pin-point accuracy. I was in a discussion with a friend of mine&he raised up this issue primarily because he thinks it’s relevant to present happenings& secondarily because he loved the way I narrate it each time. It happened in Lagos over 10yrs ago, probably 13 or 14. I feel it’s also relevant for me to share it here:

I

t was a hot sunny day. The humidity was quite high. It’s past noon and I was slowly walking home after going to different places that morning. I had to,anyway. It was one of those periods inbetween an end of posting exam&beginning of a new posting in medical school .Since we don’t have any breaks,I gave myself a week’s break to go home and do many things in Lagos, including collecting the cheque of one of the numerous companies that awarded me schorlarship (oil companies inclusive). The road was relatively less busy. I had walked past the zombies to my left. It appears they were oblivious of me.They were busy with themselves. Having walked past and crossed to the other side of the street to buy my favorite “senegalese bread”, it appears they’ve been jolted to action. “Stop there! Give way !” Shouted three of the madmen to four passersby. It was obvious one of their big ogas (maybe an AIG or DIG judging from the size of the convoy) was about entering. I was used to that. Afterall it’s Kam Salem House (fmr police HQ now HQ annex in Obalende, Lagos). That’s what they know how to do, harrass innocent civillians . They had to even be stopped by the previous military administrator from harrasing ladies wearing trousers and “shaba” skirts.

After my purchase, as I walked along the very long Igbosere road,I was thinking of “bigmanism” in Nigeria. The rich oppressing the poor, the powerful oppressing the weak. As I made to turn towards Strachan street where my family house was located, I saw a danfo commercial bus with the conductor shouting ” Tom Jones Tinubu! Wole Tinubu! Wole Tinubu !”. The bus was bound for Tom Jones area and Tinubu Square! Tinubu referred not to the then Lagos governor – Bola Tinubu but Madam Tinubu, that amazon of a woman with many great achievements, including being the first woman in Nigeria to own a car. That jolted my mind to events that happened that morning at the Lagos Island Local Government (LG) Secretariat where I went to pay my tenament rate tax. Then each house used to pay tenament rate tax to their respective local governments then unlike now that most taxes that were being paid to the local councils have now been hijacked by the state government. Now we pay (cheaper) Land use to the state govt rather than tenament rate. There was a slight but temporary pandemonium in the local council that morning. One of my primary school classmates who was a councillor then, despite his sleepy eyes, narrated all what happened accurately to me. The Local Government Chairman Prince Luqman Ajose had just been impeached by the local govt legislative council that morning&was replaced by his vice – Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King. What led to his impeachment is what I’m about to narrate.

Before the state govt hijacked some taxes payable to local councils, Lagos Island Local Government council was making the highest IGR (internally generated revenue) in Nigeria, making well over a billion naira monthly. It’s IGR was more that even 10 small states IGR combined together. Despite all that and it’s division into 3 (or 4) smaller LCDAs, it still generates the highest IGR by any local govt in Nigeria. Then what it generated was more than what 10 small states generated and could make any local govt chairman proud and pompous. That was what happened to Luqman Ajose. There was a clash of ego between him and the state governor – Tinubu. Furthermore he clashed with some political leaders, and market women. Rmr then Gov.Tinubu’s late mother – Habibatu Mogaji was the iyaloja-general of all market women, not only in Lagos Island or Lagos State or SW but the whole Nigeria. His clash with the traders too had to do with (over) taxation of market stalls etc.

Let me frankly say categorically here that I’ve not been nor am I a fan of Tinubu nor of his politics. However,I doff my hat to respect his political sagacity in overcoming political challenges thereby making an enigma for himself. He isn’t merely Jagaban of Borgu or Asiwaju of Lagos (Island). He’s Jagaban of Nigeria& Asiwaju of Africa. I stand by my statements.

Unlike now when state chief judges, state high court judges and the state houses of assembly legislator are mere rubber stamps of state governors, with some of them even postrating before the governors to address them; it wasn’t like that before. All attempts to settle the conflict btw the governor and the local govt chair all proved abortive. The governor suspended the local govt chair but this suspension was reverted by the courts. The governor had no right to unilaterally suspend a local govt chair, who is a member of a third &”independent” arm of govt – the LG. The governor’s attempt to remove the governor through the state house of assembly was rebuffed by them. It appeared the governor had suffered a bloodied nose twice. Then Tinubu was silent on the matter. Very silent. His silence is what his political opponents should fear because it isn’t mere silence but political strategizing and restrategizing to strike his opponent when he least expected with a very deadly fatal blow. It’s not an issue of a great state ludo player not able to play national chess. That’s an errorneous impression.

One day,Tinubu also obvious of the small differences of the LG chair with his 10 councillors over choice of supervisory councillors summoned the 10 councillors for a meeting at the state house,lagos- his official residence. The meeting was scheduled for 6.00pm and it looked like a 6- 8 or 9 pm meeting. They were gathered but the governor didn’t meet with them at that time. The governor is busy with some “urgent” state matters but will meet with them, they were told. 6pm became 10pm and became 12 midnight. They waited and waited. Many got tired. Some slept off. At exactly 2.00am the governor entered the venue of the meeting. He listened to their grievances. He convinced them of the need to remove Luqman Ajose. By 6.00am the meeting ended. The councillors resolved to remove him. But to make sure things went his way ,he decided it should be a surprise attack. They were implored to go to the council chambers, hold a legislative meeting and legally remove him. That’s what they did. Those were the days GSM was just starting in Nigeria. By 7.00 am, the local legislative council met and impeached the chairman and replaced him with his vice. Before anybody could inform him and he could mobilise his supporters and “thugs” to disrupt any attempts to remove him,he was removed. It was surprising and a very fatal attack ! That’s the way lions attack their preys.

Luqman Ajose fell from grace to grass and became politically irrelevant. He was even jailed for at least 2yrs, about 5 yrs ago over embezzled council funds. This shows the political sagacity of Jagaban of Nigeria, Asiwaju of Africa, the Lion of Bourdillion and he’s a smooth operator. It’s a lesson for his political opponents.

Am watching keenly the Nat Assembly & Senate crisis and what some people have termed the Lion of Bourdillion vs Tiger of Ilorin vs Dongari Bauchi vs wolf of yola. I’m awaiting how all will end.

What Nostra II sees while sitting or lying down, a vast majority won’t see even if they climb telecomm masts !

Disregard Nostra II to ur peril !!

God rules in the affairs of men !!!

LETTER TO BORNO YOUTHS : DO YOU WANT TO BE STREET CLEANERS ?

Dear brothers and sisters of Borno,

I consider myself one of you, and God knows I am in spirit, struggle, pain and hopeful perseverance. Our governor has decided to make 5,000 of us street and government building cleaners. This was contained in an urgent promo published across all dailies this Friday by Borno State Environmental Protection Agency Coordinator, Nasiru Surundi. They say we are to be cleaning shops, markets, streets and government offices as “street vanguards” for N10, 000 monthly.

I know 100s of thousands of us unsecure youth are in desperate need of money, but I write this letter to ask you if what you want and think you deserve from your administration is to be hired by the government as cleaners? If government offices are dirty why do they not get on their fours and clean it themselves as public servants handsomely compensated for next to nothing?, is a question we ask.

Dear great youth. If we do not stand for ourselves, no one will. I commend you as I always have for being the patriotic ones who believed and who paid the ultimate price, fought and died to save your communities when the army ran; saving the capital Maidiguri as a home for you and displaced millions. Had it not been for you, Boko Haram would long have captured the entire State long time ago. As reward for this alone, if money was all that mattered, you deserve the yearly N50 million budgeted without condition! Not to be disrespected and told to be street cleaners. We know how these very officials have plundered 100xs as much for doing nothing other than putting us in harm’s way, aiding and abetting Boko Haram while failing to feed, arm and support us who fought them.

Dear comrades. I urge you to stand for your rights along with your dignity. The two go hand in hand. Our patience cannot be bought with a mere 5,000 of us being humiliated with N10,000 each when we know what we deserve and what has been stolen from us, can it?

Teach A Man To Fish; Not Give Him Fish…Or Turn Him Into A Cleaner

If N300, 000 is invested in small enterprises it yields 4 permanent jobs on average worldwide! That’s about how much our government intends to use to buy two of us’ loyalty over a year span in stipends. If our government had a true conscience, will they not use this same money to invest with us rather in aiding us procure what it takes to set up small businesses whereby the same funds for just one year will get 10,000 of us permanently employed and small business entrepreneurs? Of course, with some of us deciding to run street and building cleaning enterprises that may hire Nasirus to do the cleaning, at our own volition? But this government has lost its ability to think.

This government that begs for an amnesty for Boko Haram so their sins can be covered; a recurrent pattern in Borno where and why Mohammad Yusuf was allegedly killed to cover their sins, is at it again. I am not even sure in their proposition for an amnesty for Boko Haram they have written that Boko Haram killers should be made street cleaners after pardon. I bet you in that proposal they gave Buhari, they opted for the surrendering terrorists to be shipped abroad to aviation schools, whereas they are so insolent to declare they want their brave sons who did what the army would not, to be street cleaners….ad this while mercenaries are still being paid to fight the fight we fight, for $400 (N100, 000)/ day. And then they ask why there is terror in Borno. No it is not because of poverty; terror has absolutely nothing to do with poverty! The terror is the child of the corrupt cluelessness, insults and injustice.

Proverbs 22; HCSB: 22 “Don’t rob a poor man because he is poor, and don’t crush the oppressed at the gate, 23 for the Lord will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them.”

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas (R.A): “The Prophet (pbuh) sent Mu’adh to Yemen and said, “Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah.” Volume 3, Book 43, Number 628: Sahih Bukhari.

This is my word to you.

We will shame our adversaries. I believe I can count on you.

ARSENAL FC’S RECENT 4 TROPHIES IN 15 MONTHS: MATTERS ARISING

Once upon a time, the African Champions Club Cup {Sekou Toure Cup} now re-christened CAF Champ League was so elusive to Nigerian clubsides that it was called the elusive Sekou Toure cup to Nigerian clubs. But God showed up and Enyimba won it two times consecutively (back to back using Orji Uzor Kalu’s english) in 2003 and 2004. It’s no more elusive bcos we’ve won it at least twice.

Fastforward to a year later, faraway in England, Arsenal won FA cup in 2005 and for the next 9 seasons they didn’t win any competitive trophy. They were termed all types of derogatory names like ” trophiless, specialist in failure, nearly cannot kill a bird et al. But God showed up in their situation.

In the last 15 months, their story changed. They have won 4 competitive trophies, winning FA Cup&Community Shield back-to-back, even shaming the big mouth that had mocked them specialist in failure.

May God that helped Arsenal and Nigeria also show up in your situation this week and change your situation for good. May all your enemies and mockers be shamed.

Good morning folks ! Happy New Week and have a great week ahead. Amen

NEW NNPC BOSS: WILL CRYING WAILING WAILERS EVER GET SATISFIED?

President Buhari has appointed an Igbo man into one of the highest offices in Nigeria despite he did not get 25% votes from that Region known as South East. Mr Emmanual Ibe Akachukwu has been appointed as the group managing director of NNPC after PMB sacked the former boss. Hope facebook will have some peace now because the last time Buhari went to the US facebook was almost brought down with the belief that an Igbo wasnt in the 33 member delegation despite the conspicous presence of Gov.Rochas Okorocha.

The wailing wailers are saying that the new GMD of NNPC, Emmanuel Ibe Kachukwu is not an Igbo man because he is from Delta State. But these same people called Jonathan, an Ijaw man their Igbo brother. Confused wailers keep wailing!

They will continue to Wail. Appoint Delta Ibo, Anambra will Wail; appoint Anambra, Enugu will Wail; appoint Enugu , Imo will Wail; appoint Imo, Abia will Wail; appoint Abia, Ebonyi will Wail; appoint Ebonyi, Delta will Wail! Na only una dey Nigeria? How many votes una give PMB?. The law of sowing and reaping applies in all areas.

In the whole of SS & SE, Edo was the ONLY one that gave PMB the required 25% (in fact they gave him approx. 40%) and have not set fire on Nigeria for not getting appointment yet…Honestly this is arrant nonsense!

I read somewhere [a study/research] that depression could lead to mental illness. And the first sympton of the transition process is Wailing and cursing. I hope the usual cursing and wailing of friend(s) who detest the truth is not a confirmation of the study. My frienemies, the truth is always constant, bitter and hard to swallow. Live with it and stop being miserable or else, you will run mad oh. No talk say i no tell you oh.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT referring to all Ibos, I am EXCLUSIVELY referring to the Wailing Wailers who have Wailed themselves into perpetual Wailing!

God works in mysterious ways, more than we can ever think, imagine or expect

One day a local evangelist
bragged during a crusade that
his God was more able than
all the other gods in the town
and the powers of the universe
that the villagers worshipped put together.

Just then, rainstorm sounds started sounding overhead,
threatening the progress of the crusade. The evangelist lifted up his voice and declared with confidence that if the rains fell,
then he wasn’t a man of God; he would stop preaching!

Before he could finish his bluff, the rains began to hit the crusade grounds so vehemently, apparently in disregard to his declarations. The whole town left the crusade grounds to their houses, shaking their heads in disappointment and dismay.

The evangelist, so distraught and angry, packed his belongings and left the town the next day.

On his way through the next town, he checked into a local drinking spot and drank himself to stupor.

As he laid on the ground cursing God, an old seedy looking man tapped him gently on the shoulder.

“Man of God”,
the old man began.
But the evangelist quickly cut in, “don’t mention the name of God to me.
He is fake.
He is unreliable.
I am no longer a believer in this God.
A God who chooses to disgrace His servants.
Leave me alone!”

But the old man would not let him be. He continued,

“I am the fetish priest in the village you just preached at.
During your one week stay
in that village, you destroyed all the charms I had made on the people for 45 years. Your prayers and your words always came with some fearful fire and power.

I tried so many times to eliminate you but i couldn’t. My last chance came yesterday. I had loaded my gun with gun powder lying wait on the mountaintop where i had a very clear view of you.

My plan was to shoot you from a distance since I couldn’t get close enough to you due to the fire around you. But just when i lifted the gun, the rains came from nowhere, wetting my gunpowder and covering you in a cloud so that i couldn’t even see you.

Lesson: God works in mysterious ways, more than we can ever think, imagine or expect . He doesn’t think nor act as we do. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His Thoughts higher than our thoughts, and His Ways higher than our ways

God rules in the affairs of men

WHO IS MAHAMAT DAOUD, THE NEW FACE OF EVIL?

Since 13 th March 2015, the ubiquitous Abubakar Shekau, the demented incoherent leader of Jammatu Ahlis Sunnati Luddawati Wahl Jihad a.k.a Boko Haram, has neither been seen or heard since his last pre-election video were he rained words bridled with fire and brimstone against the Nigerian State.

I have posted severally that current intelligence assumes he is dead as Cameroonian troops found the dead body of a doppelganger of Shekau in the suburbs of Gwarzo, killed while fleeing from the heavy aerial bombardment of the city as his self declared underseige Islamic Republic fell to Chadian desert commandos and South African Mercenaries. However independent confirmation of the bearded fighter’s identity was never obtained for access to reference DNA samples is an unaffordable luxury in Black Africa.

But with the sudden announcement of the replacement of the late Shekau with the obscure Mahamat Daoud, this has all but settled the matter.
Mahamat Daoud is the new face of evil. A much more secluded and quiet Boko Haram commander, Mahamat Daoud is said to be less Charismatic but even more blood thirsty and brutal.

He is rated to be the inspiration behind the Boko Haram Female Suicide Bombing Brigade and is also the mastermind behind the latest Boko Haram video that showed an assault on a police outpost which culminated in the horrendous beheading of a Police Corporal on YouTube.
Mahamat Daoud has taken control of the largest faction of Boko Haram and in a bid to secure his position has reached out to the various regional Governments proclaiming the ouster of Abubakar Shekau thus he is the man they have to deal with currently.
And his first overture is a call for a ceasefire and the opening up negotiations with his faction of Boko Haram.
This is indeed a red herring being sold so as to give the terrorists breathing space to retreat and regroup amidst a crushing offensive led by the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Burutai, the Desert Fox.

Mahamat Daoud is a younger more radical variant of Shekau. He earned his nickname as the Butcher of Mubi for it is rumoured he was the commander who led the Boko Haram offensive that over ran The Mobile Police Garrison in Mubi and personal took charge of the beheading of 16 female mobile police officers.
Mahamat Daoud is the most ruthless and cruel of terrorists that he make Shekau look like a choir boy.

There must be no ceasefire with this progeny of Satan at the helm of Boko Haram.
The only avenue of reprieve is for him to provide proof of life to clear the burning question of the fate of the Chibok Girls.
That is the only meeting point one should have with this devil and to dine with him one must use a very long spoon for the Butcher is not to be trusted.
A new face of evil has emerged. He is The Butcher and now he will test his metal against the most cunning of Generals, The Desert Fox.
Alas he will soon meet the steel of the Multinational Force and in no time at all he will join his good friend Shekau in HELL!!!!!

5 SEXUAL ACTS THAT MAY CAUSE CANCER

Sex as an act does not cause cancers but the viruses and infections transmitted from an infected partner during unprotected sexual activity can lead to cancer. As individuals, we are aware of sexual transmitted diseases transmitted during sexual intercourse but little or no awareness has been done to enlighten the population on certain cancers that can occur as a result of sexual activities. In this article, we will discuss on 5 sexual acts that may cause cancer.

1. Oral sex
Oral sex is the act of stimulating the genitals of one’s partner during sexual activity with the use of the mouth including the tongue and lips. This act can be enjoyed by most partners and it is termed as ‘fellatio’ when it is performed on the male by the female partner and ‘cunnilingus’ when performed by the male on the female partner. Oral sex also includes the use of the mouth to stimulate the anal region.

It is now widely acceptable as a form of sexual pleasure by most people and it is no longer seen as a taboo. As harmless as it may look, oral sex can pose great health risk to both sexual partners. The risk of STI is, however, lower when compared to other forms of sexual activity. During oral sex, the risk of transmission of Human papilloma virus (HPV) increases and this can lead to cancer of the mouth and the throat.

HPV transmitted during oral sex gets into the cells of the mouth and throat leading to the mutation in the genes of the cells hence causing cancer of the mouth and the throat. The risk of developing throat cancer is higher in patients with HIV co-infection.

2. Unprotected vaginal sexual intercourse
Much awareness via the media has been done to enlighten the public on the risk of contracting HIV by having unprotected sexual intercourse with a casual partner. However, little has been done to enlighten the public on cancers that can occur as a result of unprotected sexual intercourse. During unprotected sexual intercourse, there is contact with body fluids (semen, saliva, vaginal secretions) which acts as media for transmission of viruses e.g. HIV, HCV, HBV and HPV (present in the cells of the skin around the genital regions). This can lead to cervical cancer from HPV; HIV can lead to Kaposi’s sarcoma and liver cancer from HBV and HCV.

3. Anal sex
Engaging in unprotected anal sex increases the risk of HIV and HPV transmission with anal sex leading to cancers. This is because of the higher risk of bruises of the delicate anal mucosa. Several studies carried out in homosexual men revealed that they have a higher chance of HIV, HPV, HBV and HCV transmission than in heterosexual couples and this can lead to anal warts, cancers of the anal region, colorectal cancer and even liver cancer from the transmission of HBV and HCV.

4. Fingering
In fingering, the hands of the male partner are used to stimulate the vagina and the genital regions of the female partner. This is a very common sexual practice that is termed to be harmless. Although the risk of transmission of HIV and other STIs is very low with fingering, it still poses some health risk. Sores or slight bruises of the fingers can act as an entry point for viruses to gain access into the body and establish an infection. Cancers of the skin of the hands and fingers have been reported in men who frequently engage in fingering with partners infected with HPV. The virus gain access into the cells of the skin of the fingers via the cut. It then enters into the cells and alters the genetic makeup of the cells causing an uncontrolled growth of the cancerous cells.

5. Kissing
This is the most common form of sexual activity and it is usually the first act that develops into sexual intercourse. During passionate kissing, there is exchange of saliva which is termed to be a body fluid and it may act as a medium for the exchange of viruses like Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) which cause infectious mononucleosis commonly referred to as “the kissing disease”. EBV has been implicated a risk factor for Hodgkin’s lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes) and nasopharyngeal cancer. Also, HPV can be transmitted via the mouth of an infected person during kissing to a susceptible partner

Peace and the Nazarene Peasant By Pius Adesanmi.

The Nazarene peasant whose earthly father was a carpenter rose to international fame for so many reasons. He was born in a manger among goats and sheep. Today, over a billion people swear by his name. They swear by his name because his life is a compass, a total compendium of examples, a mirror of definitions. His life answers every question, illuminates every riddle, provides definitions for everything.
We must examine such an exemplary life for a lasting definition of peace. The Nazarene peasant had two definitions of peace. One is the absence of conflict and chaos. Chaos could be a function of wars or of the anger of the elements. That is why he told the raging tempest and winds:
“Peace, be still.”
And they all sweetly obeyed his will.

And no water swallowed the ship where lay the master of ocean and earth and skies. And no grave in an angry deep had power over him.
Another day, another time, the Nazarene peasant gave the world a second definition of peace. The second definition should be the most important for his followers in the corrupt backwaters of Africa and the Third World. He defined peace as the absence of corruption. He defined peace as zero tolerance for corruption.

And this is where he adds a class dimension to his conceptualization of peace and fair. He says there can be no peace and no fair in the land when a class of people is perpetually allowed to corrupt the land. For him, peace is when you take decisive and resolute steps to deal with corruption; fair is when you deal with corruption in an all-encompassing manner, with no possibility of a soft landing for anybody.

To avoid any misunderstanding of this second definition of peace, the Nazarene peasant gave a practical demonstration. He took a koboko and went to the greatest haven of corruption in his day – the Temple.
And he flogged and drove away all the moneychangers. And swept the Temple clean of corruption.
No moneychanger was left unflogged and unpunished.

Had a euphemism committee appealed to the Nazarene peasant to “be fair” to the moneychangers, it would not have worked. He would have said that he sees fair from the perspective of the victims of the moneychangers, the victims of their corruption. He would have told them that his definition of fair is appropriate punishment for corruption without fear or favour.

Had he encountered goats and sheep as he furiously flogged corruption out of the Temple, my spirit tells me that he would not have developed a soft spot for the only companions he had in that humble manger. Goats and sheep were his benefactors because they shared their abode with his mother when she was in labour. Yet, goats and sheep would not have benefited from nepotism and special favours.

Oju wa ni won se bi – goats and sheep are the singular owners of this eye witness narrative of his birth but had he encountered them during his anti-corruption sweep through the Temple, he would not have treated them differently from the moneychangers. Every goat and every sheep would have had to account for every yam eaten.

These are the issues for President Buhari to reflect upon as he is subjected to one and the repeated visit by the Soft Landing-General of the Federation, Abdulsalami Abubakar. This retired General is a clear and present danger to President Buhari’s integrity narrative. How Buhari handles him will determine whether we can take his anti-corruption war seriously. It will determine whether Professor Itse Sagay will be allowed to function and deliver.
President Buhari went to the United States and talked the talk about the Halliburton bribery scandal. He said he would reopen that file. The creme de la creme of Nigeria’s leadership received and shared USD 180 million in bribes from Halliburton. Three former Heads of state were fingered in this bribery mess. Abdulsalami Abubakar is one of them. And that is not mentioning the monumental disappearance of funds he presided over in his short spell as Head of State.

President Buhari, how are you going to proceed with the Halliburton case when one of the indictees is constantly visiting you on soft landing (fairness is a euphemism) missions? He started with Hajia Desinatu. President Buhari, how is Professor Sagay to feel when he sees you in photo-ops with a man who may soon come to the attention of his committee? You have said that there will be no sacred cows in this new anti-corruption business. No sacred cows means no photo-ops with potential subjects of investigation and prosecution. The Nazarene peasant would never have entertained a handshake from any of the moneychangers he drove away from the temple.

President Buhari, one of your visitors owns a private jet. Recently, that jet was involved in a very messy affair in South Africa. That messy affair was supervised by the corrupt and discredited former national security adviser. Because the owner of that jet was untouchable under your immediate predecessor, an official lie was fabricated to cover up the mess and dissociate him from the money laundering and gun running scandal his jet was used for. Needless to say, nobody is satisfied with the tall stories told about how his jet came to be involved in such a messy affair. It is a file that you will have to reopen. This man should not be doing photo-ops with you until we are sure that we have no yams to retrieve from him. The Nazarene peasant would have been particularly harsh on this man. Did he not warn that “many shall come in my name?”

When next a committee visits you, look at the composition and receive only the credible people in it. There are unassailable public role models in that committee. Stick with those names and the public will not be jittery that they are visiting you. But the two I have mentioned make me nervous. They make the country nervous.

One last word for you, President Buhari. Do not joke with your personal security. Corruption is powerful. Corruption fights back. If corruption pleads and cajoles and appeals and you refuse to play ball, corruption will try to take you out – especially if you truly and genuinely move beyond talk and body language to actually touch that Halliburton deadly file. Stop your foolish populism of breaching your security instructions to mingle while you are fighting corruption.

Corruption fought the Nazarene peasant.

Corruption elevated Barabbas the thief above him.

Corruption conspired with the political leaders of the land to hang him on the cross.

Unfortunately for corruption, burdens are lifted at Calvary

It’s no news the decision of President. Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) to beam his searchlight on, and massively probe alleged irregularities and high level corruption of former President’s Jonathan (GEJ) ‘s regime. It’s also no news former President Obasanjo’s visit to PMB and his insistence that GEJ be jailed. It’s further no news of attempts by GEJ to beg PMB to drop the probe, including sending Emeka Anyaoku, fmr Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar and a host of others to beg PMB to stop the probes and haunting of those who worked with him during his regime.

The climax of this was his secret visit to PMB in Aso-Rock and Obj’s visit a day after. Thereafter, the Peace and Reconciliation Committee’s,( a committee set up just for the purposes of peaceful general elections in 2015) [which has outlived its usefulness after “peaceful” elections and transition] visit to PMB to urge him to stop the probe of GEJ’s regime. There, PMB made it to the committee point blank that he won’t stop any probe and the prosecution will begin in a few weeks’ time.

What may seem like a surprise is his decision to probe Jonathan’s regime only. Why did he leave others? What of the highly publicised Halliburton scandal? Why isn’t he gonna brobe that? Why Jonathan only? Why not Obasanjo, IBB, Abacha, Yar’Adua, Abdulsalam, (Shonekan), Gowon ? Isn’t this selective? Why not start from 1999 (or even 1960 or even 1914) ? Why not forget all about probes and let peace reign? Some many questions and raised eye brows about his decision to probe GEJ govt?

Before I continue, let me start by saying the decision to probe any government is a discretion PMB has used and he’s very entitled to it. He may have as well decided not to probe but that will rob him of moral authority to deal with anyone who steals in his regime. It won’t be fair at all. There can be no peace, without equal rights and justice. There must be justice, lest there won’t be a reward for sacrifice and obedience. Peace without truth is going to the future without memory. It is like pursuing an end without a beginning. If we reach where we are going without knowledge of where we are coming from, we will not know why we started the journey.
Part of Nigeria’s problem is that we have not resolved many issues and we move on. But we never move on, and unresolved issues haunt us always, so woes pile on woes in our national life.

The onus of probing any govt lies on the successive govt. The ousted GEJ govt could have probed whatever scam he came across during his tenure but he viewed the scams of their predecessors as child’s play.

Who or what stopped GEJ from probing the OBJ govt? Imagine GEJ having the cheek to say Buhari should not just probe him, but probe previous govts too. Now PMB is demanding accountability from GEJ’s govt, all the PDP govt peeps and wailing wailers, who kept dead quiet during the 5+ years of GEJ’s time in office when some of us were asking GEJ to probe his predecessor, are now wanting the same Buhari they did not vote for, whose policies and campaign they disparaged, to start probing according to their own idea of what is right and wrong. Why didn’t Jonathan probe the Halliburton?

People who are weary should not worry, if GEJ knows his smarts, when being probed he would finger all other accomplices, that’s how this should work, at least he was in bed with the likes of OBJ, IBB and Abdulsalami, before the love was lost. We all need to relax and watch how this will play out.

Haliburton issue sef na bribe, this NNPC thing na heist! Halliburton paid top Nigerians bribes to be given contracts for Bonny LNG. The work was carried out ! It’s the illegal bribery that is the scandal and the crime. He can probe Haliburton when he wants but this NNPC and Railway and Oil theft heist still dey fresh probe he must ooo! NNPC was direct theft of Nigeria’s money. It is funnelling oil money into private pockets. It is paying cabals huge sums for oil subsidy when no subsidy truly existed. When we deal with the direct looting and stealing from Nigeria, then we can after those who took bribes from foreign companies to award contracts.

Let JonaTHIEF be probed first! Then after all the goats have vomitted all illegally eaten yams, then IF THERE IS STILL TIME, then searchlights can be turned to others too. My people say “ti igi ba wo lu’gi, t’oke lati ma bere” (if there is multiple felling of trees on top one another,u start first with the tree on top{which obviously is the last tree to fall})

THE NIGER DELTA: WHEN STOCKHOLM SYNDROME BECOMES INFECTIOUS By Essien Attah

Patricia Hearst. Many were not born when Patricia Hearst, the daughter of the media mogul and one of the richest men in America, William Hearst, was kidnapped by a Left Wing Guerrilla/ Terrorist Unit called the SLA in 1974.

This lady is a classic example of how devastating Stockholm Syndrome can be.

This rich heiress was brainwashed and cajoled into becoming a member of this terrorist network, wrecking havoc in a 19 month reign of terror in which she robbed banks and terrorised the American country-side. When she was finally rescued 19 months later, she said her name was Trinia and claimed she was a hardcore left wing guerilla totally unaware of her right wing opulent upbringing.

Thus I remember this event with nostalgia as I look at the Niger Delta which has descended into the death throes of this similar disease.
What can make a people love their tormentors more than themselves is indeed the most baffling of all situations?
Growing up in the South and schooling in the North makes one see the best of two worlds. The entrepreneurship and determination of the South versus the beauty and industry of the North.

But one thing stands out. The level of infrastructural development of the North amidst the degradation and decay of the Niger Delta.
The refrain, when as a youth I asked why this disparity, was that the Northerners used their political clout to steal our oil money to develop the North while leaving the rest of us to wallow in penury. Yes Born to rule Northerners are the bane of the South. And it is this brainwashing we all were taught to imbibe from our youth.

But alas God in his wisdom chose to test the fabric of this great deceit by giving the Nation a South South President from the Niger Delta to prove that corruption has no ethnic facade, but is just given that toga to play on the intelligence of the masses. There are only two kinds of people in Nigeria; Not the North versus the South but actually the Corrupt versus Others.
Hence the argument used to justify the decades of brainwashing has finally been broken.

“Why didn’t our own kin develop our region to be like Kano or Abuja?” We ask.
“Oh he was too busy building Almarjiri schools for the underprivileged Northerners and building a high speed railway to rival the New York Metro; from Kano to Lagos” is the answer we often got.
3 months later the lies spring forth having been displaced by the truth.
The Almarjiri schools were a facade, the Nigerian Metro only exists in the imagination of a few, While the nation is left with tales of how Billions of Dollars were looted by a powerful cabal.

But what’s most intriguing are the revelations of the Accountant General of the Federation.
I thought that there will be riots and commotion in the Niger Delta at his damning report.
But alas all we hear is silence.
I thought all the militants would be dressed in the regalia and battle dress ready to do battle over the words etched in marble.
Instead a loud silence rebounds.

I thought all the activists and soldiers of fortune would have been jostling for time on the airwaves lamenting over the rape and pillage of the Niger Delta.
Alas they too have joined in the conspiracy of silence.
For in Nigeria the tool to brainwash people to be zombies like Patricia Hearst is Dollars. Lots of it can silence the leaders of thought of a people and kidnap their conscience.
Or how else can one explain the deafening silence in the midst of the greatest robbery of a people in living memory.

There is no audit report that hits below the belt more than the Accountant General’s report of how close to a Billion Dollars was pilfered from the coffers of the NDDC from 2008 to 2012.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for if the probe was extended to the twilight of the last regime even more would have been uncovered.
Why should a man midwife the theft of the development apportioned to his own people? Why? There is no conceivable answer to this question. It just doesn’t make sense.

Are we going to claim that he was a Northerner in Southern skin hence the trend of stealing of oil wealth to develop the North was allowed to continue?
This money was pencilled down to bring succor to our people, yet it was diverted o1n a monumental scale into private pockets.
Why was this allowed to happen?

He says that he was unaware of the corruption in his midst. This is indeed what makes a writer’s blood boil in anger.
Your own mother in law died due to the sorry state of the uncompleted East West Road, prominent women from your state also lost their lives on this death trap hence to feint blindness is indeed one faux pas too many.

For years the NDDC was groomed as a cesspool of corruption as money was recklessly pilfered, siphoned off to a powerful Minister notorious for making a fool of himself on National Tv and his even more Powerful godmother.
The trail of the looted Niger Delta funds will certainly lead to these quarters.
For years I have heard the hush tones of NDDC staff who claim that colossal sums were shipped out to stroke the ego of the powerful godmother who secured the plum job of her crony.
In the midst of this the common man was left impoverished and stricken.
Yet the so called Militants who claimed they were at war to promote self determination and resource control are all silent.

The greatest rape of the Niger Delta has been perpetuated under the careful tutelage of our own kin. How shameful.
Yet he is glorified and given a hero’s welcome instead of being pilloried at the stake.
But alas in a region were convicted criminals are hailed as Messiahs with some rewarded with seats in the Senate while others are still enjoying the vain prayers and supplications of their teaming supporters, who are calling for the premature release of the king of corruption from prison in London, one is baffled at how deep rooted the Stockholm Syndrome is in the region and the possibility that this disease is infectious has to be contemplated.
One is not even sure what to cry over, the rape of the Niger Delta or its emasculated people who hail their tormentors by day but sleep hungry and impoverished by night.

The only hope for a people trapped in Stockholm Syndrome is urgent rescue. Anyone who stole from this sacred trust must be brought to book. The days of sacred cows should end.
And for those who have joined the conspiracy of silence they should remain silent forever.
Change has come to stay.

The Abobaku Ruse : A Joke and internet prank carried too far

The Abobaku story is a joke taken too far. Unfortunately many have chosen to believe it and not even considered that no State government in Nigeria would openly allow human sacrifice.

The concept of Abobaku is one that is now purely ceremonial. No-one is interred with ANY Yoruba Oba who dies. Sango no longer rules Yoruba land as an earthly monarch breathing fire, the Balogun no longer leads Yoruba into battle, the Are-Ona-Kakanfo no longer commands Yoruba troops, and the Abobaku is no longer buried with any Oba. Human sacrifice is officially outlawed in Nigeria. No Monarchy in ANY part of the country, will openly practise it by saying they will bury someone with a dead ruler.

I have seen two pictures making the round on the Social Media, which some pranksters originated and which, unfortunately, are trending on the Social Media as the pictures of the Abobaku.

The first picture is the picture of black man being conferred with Irish citizenship by the Prime Minister. The second is an Ethopian warrior.

Did the Yorubas of Ife have a history of Abobaku? Yes!
But the last Obabaku went with Oba Adelekan, the Olubuse the first, in 1910. Internment of Abobaku with the King was outlawed by the Colonial Administration in 1930 after the passing of Oba Ademiluyi.
While the Abobaku considered it an honour to die with the King, the Colonial Authorities thought otherwise.

The Abobaku sued the Colonial Authorities to Court for depriving him the honour of being interned with the King and he lost the suit. He was spared.

The next and 49th Ooni was the former Governor of the Western Region, Oba Adesoji Aderemi. Educated and urbane.
The 50th Ooni is the King that just passed on.

I am shocked about the way non Yorubas are taking the Abobaku joke for real, hurling insults, denigrading the people when a simple google search will teach them that the title no longer exists anywhere in Yoruba land for more than one hundred years now. It is quite unfortunate that many people believed the crap.
“Abobaku ko, abobawaja ni”

Abobaku is a system in the past and it has gone with the past,it is vicious and malicious to peddle what you know nothing about to score a mere rhetoric point. I hope you’ve all also read Wole Soyinka’s novel ” Death and the king’s horseman” . It talked of the story of abobaku, the colonists and the abolishment by the colonists. We are proud of our ANCESTRAL past. ….Omo Yoruba rere ni mi o.

Arise O’ Sleeping Youths of Nigeria!!!

Awolowo was (37), Akintola (36), Ahmadu Bello (36), Effiong (36), Balewa (34) and Okotie-Eboh (27), Enahoro (27) led the struggle for independence after the death of Macaulay. Only Zik was 42 at the time.

The brief democratic dispensation which interjected the military interregnums also saw the House of Representatives in particular populated by majority of members under 30 years as well as some senators.Under 30s were also not in short supply with appointments, we have examples of MT Mbu who became foreign affairs minister at 23 and Pat Utomi who became a presidential adviser at 27 and so on and so forth.
NOW:

Why is it that this age bracket is today still sleeping in 3 seater chairs in their parents’ homes?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still collecting pocket money from their parents?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still writing JAMB?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still sagging their trousers?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still searching for jobs?

Why is it that this age bracket is today no longer qualified to even be leaders of youth wings of political parties?

Why is it that this age bracket is today so docile?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still incapable of feeding itself?

Why is it that this age bracket is today barred by law from even aspiring to certain political offices?

Why is it that this age bracket is today incapacitated, unwilling, unable and incapable of asking questions?

Wheat flour is a dangerous substitute for Amala and Iyan.

Please DON’T use WHEAT FLOUR to make swallow like Amala. Read this post before you decide.
“Wheat is now the preferred swallow meal for many Nigerian families particularly in the urban centres. Sadly too, some rural dwellers have hooked onto the fad that wheat is a “healthy” food.

Early this year, a middle-aged man from Ekiti State came to my office for solution to his health challenges – diabetes and high blood pressure. Upon enquiry on his diet, he said wheat was his major meal daily. According to him, virtually all the civil servants working at the state and local governments in Ekiti State also eat wheat as their regular meal. In fact, he said those that are not eating wheat particularly in the state capital could not afford it, but not due to knowledge of its harm to health.

What an irony? Otherwise, how do we explain the preference of wheat to pounded yam, which the Ekiti people have been eating for good health and
vitality centuries back?

The prevalent consumption of wheat across the country has clearly shown that in the absence of knowledge, people can accept poison as therapy. After all, wheat is the first choice food for diabetics on the strength of doctors’ advice. Nationwide, wheat has overshadowed yam flour and other starchy foods that are peculiar to our culinary culture in Nigeria. Unfortunately, this is one dietary change that may prove suicidal for many people given the inseparable linkage of diet to health or ill health. Though wheat, like other grains, is rich in fibre and some other nutrients, it is one food anybody
that desires wellness and long life should be kept at arm’s length. Why?

There are three inherent dangers in the chemistry of wheat that make it a classic destroyer of health. I call them the downsides of wheat.

Wheat contains gluten – a protein that causes inflammation, a systemic process that has harmful effects across all the organ systems in the body including the brain, heart, joints, eyes and digestive tract. As a matter of fact, inflammation does not only precede all degenerative
diseases like diabetes, cancer, stroke, glaucoma, arthritis and Parkinson’s disease, but also fuels their insidious progression. A review paper in the New
England Journal of Medicine listed 55 diseases that can be caused by eating gluten-containing foods. The diseases include osteoporosis, anemia, cancer, canker sores, fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. The paper also linked gluten to many psychiatric and neurological diseases including depression, schizophrenia, dementia, nerve damage, epilepsy and autism. The paper concluded that there are 120 or more diseases associated with eating foods that contain gluten. Dr. Joseph A. Murray, MD states that he is surprised how often gluten affects the brain.

Another study by Dr .J. Robert Cade, MD of the University of Florida showed that people with autism and schizophrenia have high level of peptides in their urine. These peptides, according to Dr. Cade, come from casein (protein in milk and other dairy products) and gliadin and gluten in wheat, barley, oats and rye.

Another study of 30,000 patients analyzed from 1969 – 2008 reported in the journal of the American Medical Association found that people diagnosed
with gluten-sensitivity had a higher risk of death from cancer and heart disease than the normal population. Worse still, the bulk of wheat being consumed in the country is the American hybrid strain, which has much higher gluten content than the European wheat.

The second inherent danger in the chemistry of wheat is its high Glycemic Index GI. Glycemic Index is a scale that
ranks carbohydrate rich foods by how much they raise blood sugar level compared to low glycemic foods. Wheat has GI of 71 compared to yam and sweet potato with GI of 49 and 54 respectively.

Invariably, eating food with high GI like wheat regularly promotes weight gain and makes diabetes intractable. According to Dr. Mark Hyman, MD “wheat is a major contributor to obesity, diabetes, cancer, dementia, depression and many modern ills.” If one may ask, what is the science behind the recommendation of wheat as a meal to fight high blood sugar?

Also, many people do not know that wheat, which is being promoted as a “healthy” food, is one of the most acid-forming foods. What are the health
implications of eating acid forming foods? Wheat and other acid-forming foods lower the body pH and deplete oxygen level in the cells and tissues, which is the primary cause of all diseases. In other words, if wheat causes low pH that triggers diseases, eating wheat and its products is akin to adding fuel to fire for people battling with one health challenge or the other.

What are the physiological effects of low pH on the body organs? Eyes are the first victims of degenerating effects of low pH and its consequences include cataract, glaucoma and other forms of visual impairment. Also, low body pH makes the heart overwork by robbing the blood of proper oxygenation and causing irregular heart beat and systemic degeneration of the heart muscle and blood vessels, which can ultimately lead to heart attack and stroke. The brain and nerves also malfunction when the body pH is low (acidic pH).

Furthermore, acidic pH undermines the vital functions of the pancreas –production of insulin for glucose metabolism and digestive enzymes for synthesis of protein. Yet, the dysfunction of the pancreas triggers diabetes and cancer, with the former setting the stage for the latter.

A joint report by the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association noted that people with type 2 diabetes have high risk of developing cancers of the liver, pancreas, colon and bladder. Acidic pH causes clogging of the colon with acid wastes resulting in chronic constipation,
which makes healing of any health challenge impossible.

TIPS

Healthy alternatives to wheat
• Yam & yam flour
• Unpolished rice
• Sweet potato.

BUHARI FULFILLED JOB CREATION PROMISE

10,000 Nigerians to be recruited into the Nigeria police force. The deaf and blind wailers are pretending not to notice because their lives have been ruined the way Jonathan ruined Nigeria. Buhari didn’t stop there he has also directed that over 2,500 soldiers wrongly dismissed by those who wanted them to fight their supported Boko Haram with bare hands have been re-enstated back to the service. Those halfwit wailers should note that not all the soldiers are from the North or Daura yet they keep forcing their fetid opinion on the gullible that our patriotic present is a tribal leader. ABIDE WHERE YOU ARE

There was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, “If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own country.” And then he went away.

That night the farmer couldn’t sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was unhappy. The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his
farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds.
.
He looked all over Africa and couldn’t find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn’t find any. When he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke. He got so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona River and committed suicide.
.
Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at a stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow. He thought it would look good on the mantle piece. He picked up the stone and put it in the living room. That afternoon the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, “Is Hafiz back?” The new owner said, “No, why do you ask?” The wise man said, “Because that is a diamond. I recognize one when I see one.”
.
The man said, no, that’s just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I’ll show you. There are many more.” They went and picked some samples and sent them for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of diamonds.

What is the moral of this story?

There are five morals:

1. When our attitude is right, we realize that we are all walking on acres and acres of diamonds. Opportunity is always under our feet. We don’t have to go anywhere. All we need to do is recognize it.

2. The grass on the other side always looks greener.

3. While we are dyeing the grass on the other side, there are others who are dyeing the grass on our side. They would be happy to trade places with us.

4. When people don’t know how to recognize opportunity, they complain of noise when it knocks.

5. The same opportunity never knocks twice. The next one may be better or worse, but it is never the same one.

SARAKI: AFTER THE BAIL, WHAT NEXT? By Sharon Faliya Cham

After both the Federal High Court and the Federal Court of Appeal in Abuja refused to be play toys in the hands of Senate President Bukola Saraki in his brazen attempt to befuddle the course of justice so that he could escape the 13 counts charge of crime slammed on him, he grudgingly presented himself before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 to take his plea.

Significantly, the Chairman of the Tribunal pointedly told Senator Saraki that the accusations against him were criminal charges, and not civil offences that carry lighter penalties. Also significantly, this is where the greater burden for Senator Saraki lies. Facing criminal charges automatically makes his position as President of the Nigerian Senate untenable; it diminishes him and as well diminishes the office as long as he continues to occupy it, for it makes no sense for anyone facing criminal charges to sit atop the country’s highest law making organ. He has lost the moral right and moral stamina to initiate or even support any law making process. Who will obey laws made by either confirmed or suspected law breakers?

The only non-negotiable option left for Senator Saraki is to resign his position or get impeached by the Senate, and this is without prejudice to the cases he and his wife and their business associates are facing in court, and this is even apart from the impending criminal charge of forgery of the Senate Standing Rules that threw him and Ekweremadu up as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively. He should resign and face his legal challenges squarely. With these plethora of charges hanging over his neck and his family, he cannot combine those challenges with the challenges of making laws for Nigeria. He cannot, and should not, be allowed to hold Nigeria to ransom. The country’s destiny is not tied to him being Senate President by force.

Senate Presidents have been removed from office because of much lesser offences than his. Evans Enwerem was removed from office in the year 2000 because he happened to have been jailed as Evan Enwerem previously, and when he ran for office in 1999, he changed his name from Evan to Evans to obfuscate his criminal record.

The charismatic and colourful Senator Chuba Wilberforce Okadigbo, the Oyi of Oyi, was removed from office simply because he issued an ‘anticipatory approval’ for a contract of 78 million naira to fix street lights from the National Assembly gate to the Complex itself! Okadigbo did not steal the money, rather they accused him of ‘anticipatory approval’, and since that time till now I wonder if anyone could count the number of ‘anticipatory approvals’ granted by top office holders!

Down to the House of Reps, Salisu Buhari’s Toronto certificate saga is nothing compared to Saraki’s assets saga. What about Hon. Patricia Ette? Her charges were also of lesser magnitude, yet she lost her office!

The Senators owe Nigeria the responsibility and duty of redeeming that institution from its current image of dishonesty and opportunism. Lawmakers cannot be law breakers. The change Nigerians yearned for, and voted for through the inspiring ramrod integrity of President Buhari is not the change that will be rubbished by a Senate that wants to abide in the old ways of corruption and roguery. Nigerians have the inalienable right of having a decent country where decent, honest people shall be leaders in every arm and every organ of government. We will defend and promote this change irrespective of party affiliation. Corrupt APC office holders will be pursued and called to account, talk less of the PDP ones.

In any case, President Buhari rightly said it in July this year that his administration will not spare any member of his political party caught in acts of corruption, and this is fair and just. Nigeria’s overall interest is bigger than any party loyalty. Moreover, even people like Senator Saraki are not loyal to the party, and his party loyalty or lack of it should not override the fact of his charges before the law. A crime is a crime, irrespective of who commits it. Fact

ANGRY KWARANS AND WORSHIPPERS ATTACK BUKOLA SARAKI, EMIR, EX MINISTER, DIGNITARIES AT THE EID PRAYING GROUND IN ILORIN,KWARA STATE.

Angry worshippers on Thursday attacked the President of the Senate, Dr. Olubukola Saraki , the Emir of Ilorin, Alh. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, and many political figures at the Eid Praying Ground in Ilorin in protest against the state of the economy of Kwara.

The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alh. Muhammadu Bashir was not spared the wrath of the protesters.

Others who were victims of the spontaneous mob action were ex- Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Ali Ahmad, ex-Speaker Razak Atunwa( now a member of the House of Representatives) Rep Amuda Kannike, a former National Chairman of the PDP, Alh. Kawu Baraje, the Taliban of Ilorin, Prof. Oba Abdulraheem, members of the State House of Assembly, all the Baloguns, Magajis and prominent leaders in Ilorin Emirate.

The protesters were said to be angry because of non-utilization of the bail out funds given to the state by the Federal Government to offset workers’ salaries.

They alleged that the bail out funds were used to offset the bill incurred on crowning Saraki as the President of the Senate.
Although the prayer was fixed for 10am, there was tension as early as 8am at the Eid Praying Ground.

It was evident that most worshippers were out for showdown because initial sermon segment of the Sallah celebration fell on deaf ears.

As Saraki and others arrived the praying ground, there was intermittent shout of “Ole! Ole!! Ole!!!(Thief, thief, thief).
Others were shouting “Ebi n pa wa!” “Ebi yii tito Saraki!””A o ki run, e fun wa lounje”( We are hungry, enough of hunger Saraki, give us food, we don’t want to pray.”

The thunderous vituperations were hardly subsided when stones and missiles were thrown at the dignitaries.
The police, security agents, and members of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, battled spiritedly to curtail the protesters who remained defiant.

There were sporadic firing of teargas canisters by the police and security agents.
After about 30-minute protest, temporary calm was restored which gave way for the observance of the two Nafilats( prayers).

But as the dignitaries were filing out , the protesters started hurling missiles again.
As at press time, there was tension in Saraki’s camp over who was responsible for the attack.

Ahmed, who was probably aware of security reports, went to Share, his hometown, to observe the prayers.

Bukola Saraki: Just like His Father ( in traitorships and betrayals ) by Zents Kunle Sowunmi

When the elder Saraki went to the Senate in 1979, his shares with Societte Générale Bank were held in trust for him by his friend and confidant, Chief Kotoye a Lawyer and a Minister in the first Republic under Tafawa Balewa’s administration.

To compete for Senate majority leadership, Dr. Saraki borrowed lots of money against the shares he placed in trust and used Chief Kotoye to stand as a guarantor for the loan.
However, when Buhari took over in 1984, and second Republic was dismantled, Saraki came back for his shares.

Chief Kotoye asked for the refund of the loan before the shares could be released to him, Dr. Olusola Saraki went to town, that Chief Kotoye a Lawyer wanted to steal his bank from him.

It became a court case between 1985/86, Saraki was very powerful with the press, somehow, Chief Kotoye was viewed negatively, to clear his name, Kotoye brought witnesses from France to testify in court.

Somehow, a day to the appearance of the witnesses in court one of the white French guys was killed, by suspected hired killers in front of the hotel in Lagos, the other one Mr. Burdillion escaped back to France, he never returned to clear Kotoye of the deal between the two former original owners of the bank. I believe Kotoye lost the bank and all his own shares to Saraki and ended in deep debt and financial crises after.

The children of Saraki inherited everything, but like everything in life it must end. Société Generalle Bank was destroyed, it went under in the same way Elder Saraki did to his friend and confidant Chief Kotoye, but in the case of the younger Saraki the law will take care of everything. And the sin of the elder Saraki may be revisited.

The Oracle met with Chief Kotoye in Lagos at his Ikoyi office in between 1984/85 to ask for his views on the case.
Stealing or greed is in the genes of all perpetrators , it could be a pass down generation in DNA., or where did you think Saraki got it from?

Where? Like the Oracle said in the past, our children are watching us, we are the mirror for them, if we are committing crimes, they will do it, lay good example for your children, otherwise they will be worst than you.

STONING SARAKI by Essien Attah

We steal because the people dont Stone us
–Rotimi Amaechi

When the rich make the poor go hungry, soon the poor won’t have anything to eat except the rich…Napoleon Bonaparte
Kwara State is one of the poorest States in Nigeria with horrible development indices and decrepit infrastructure.
But alas, in the midst of all this, lives the royalty of Kwara.

This is indeed a dystopia similar to the opulent surroundings French Royalty found themselves just before the guillotine of the Revolution came calling.

And with the travails of Saraki, who has become the centre of all attention; the simmering pot of Ilorin is only waiting for another spark to ignite a boiling heat.

Why should workers be owed despite a bail out from the FG to offset their arrears? This is inexplicable and diabolical. Yet the royalty cannot go a day without their personal indulgence. And to expect to continue in this grandiose lifestyle without a commiserate reaction from the poor they trample on is like living in a fool’s paradise.

The stoning of Saraki and his minions at the Eid grounds of Ilorin, is legally wrong but morally justified. Its high time he realised that his demi-god status has been demystified as he sat in the docks like a common criminal only a few days ago before the Code of conduct Tribunal.

Does he expect to have peace and enjoy his Sallah Ram in peace when millions of his kinsmen are hungry and thousands left unpaid?

The people of Kwara are only venting out their anger as they fall prey to their basic instincts.
Hopefully this will be a lesson to other leaders who turn a blind eye to their people’s plight.

Nigeria can be a just society with equity for all.
To promote otherwise will only bring forward the evil day when the poor will eat till their fill on the carcasses of their rich oppressors.
And that will be most unfortunate

Bukola Saraki : The self acclaimed Rice Farmer

We heard of Uncle Bens Rice and I doubt if the man worth his country’s half budget unlike Uncle Olybukola, the Chief forger, the producer of Sarakonda Rice, the man who thought he could rob Peter to pay Paul.. Era of injustice is gone.

This CHANGE would by no time blow Saraki away from our national politics as Saraki be the first seating Senate President to entered the Dock… no way for someone like Saraki to continue presiding over the NASS.

There is a saying in my place ” Eranko to bo lowo pakute, ko tii bo lowo olode” meaning.. the bush meat that escaped from trap is yet to escape from the hunter.

By the time Saraki would face the 13 counts charges against him, I doubt if he would be able to survive this.

He who rides on the back of the tiger to achieve results, sooner or later will surely end up in d belly of the tiger

Finally, don’t eat Sarakonda Rice this sallah and never… it is meant for treasury looters and money launder.

8 REASONS WHY BUHARI AND APC MAY NOT FORGIVE SARAKI:

1. Saraki was invited by the Party before he became Senate President and in a move to resolve disputes, he bluffed them.

2. He was invited by the VP, he insulted and called the VP of Nigeria a mere commissioner and did not attend the intervention meeting.

3. He was invited by the President for dispute resolution, he stayed away and engaged in a scheme with PDP against his party to emerge President and PDP as the Deputy President of Senate.

4. He was invited a second time by the Party, he again refused to attend.

5. The party made an overture of reconciliation and ask that they will forgive and move on but they need Senate Leadership to be party selections. Saraki killed that peace initiative and put in positions of Leadership people that are not in line with the party’s directive.

6. A similar appeal to Dogara in the HOR was accepted and the Speaker of House reconciled himself with the party. Saraki continued to be obstinate.

7. When he was asked to go and make peace with Presidency….hissupporters said they do not need the Presidency, the Presidency needs them.

8. He was invited by Code of Conduct Tribunal, he bluffed the Court and went to a different Court for protection.
Perhaps Saraki is the architect of his own misfortune.

MY TAKE:

It will be a great pleasure for him to pass just a night in the prison. 8 years gov and 4 years senator, worth multiple billions of naira. go to some places in kwara you ll smell poverty. Ilorin, one of the Nigerian cities with highest number of beggars in the street.

I hear that Kwarans who were unable to go to Mecca and stone the Devil, they were given the opportunity in Ilorin. Na the same tin!
If you don’t have enough money to fly to Saudi Arabia to stone the devil. You can do it locally by looking for corrupt politician around you and stone just like the Poor Kwara youths did to our Senate President in Ilorin.
I believe you will get the same reward like those who did theirs in Saudi Arabia or more than them

THE CONFIDENCE BEFORE THE FALL {Pseudo Dutch Courage }

The way senators have had to pass a vote of confidence twice on Saraki within short intervals, it not only shows that all is not well, it also shows that something is about to happen. If you go back in history, didn’t The Senate pass vote of confidence on Okadigbo, Enwerem etc yet impeachment followed thereafter? Will the entire NASS vote of confidence on Saraki stop the court from passing judgement on him that will force him out if he’s culpable which I can beat my chest to say? He’s just living on fools’ paradise and borrowed rope because he who has murdered sleep will NOT sleep. They have ‘IMENSALY’ pushed Saraki forward to dance, when he looks back, he will discover he is alone in the cold. The same mouth they used to shout confidence, they will use to say, impeach him. We shall soon see. He who rides on top of the tiger will sooner or later end up in the belly of the tiger.

FREEDAY FREE FOOD FOR FRIENDS’ FREAKING FREETHINKING Vol 299

Possible implications of massive influx of Syrian and other arab refugees into Europe

It’s no news the crisis that’s engulfed the arab middle east in the last four years. It all started from the Arab Spring Revolution of Dec 2010 that spread like wild fire through about 28 arab countries in the middle east. Governments were changed and reforms were made in many cases. But this isn’t the focus of this article. I’ve written comprehensively about Revolution in my articles in the past and my book ” REVOLUTION IN NIGERIA : THE PROLOGUE ? Revolution in Nigeria : A possibility or a mere dream “.

Amongst many other things, war and crises lead to internal displacement and a refugee problem. Many people are forced to flee their homes. When such war/crises is not resolved early, but is rather prolonged like what’s happening more especially in Syria and Libya ,and to a smaller extent in Iraq and Yemen, it leads to a humanitarian crises and the refugee problems assume alarming dimensions.

Syria has been engulfed by a four-year old war, that started from the Arab Spring and an attempt by the people to topple their longstanding dictator of a ruler. For four constant years, the world, led by the US, the Arab League, etc, have been urging the Syrian president to step out of power peacefully. But the man has, and continues to, refuse relinquishing power, hence the continuous wastage of lives and properties in that land. To worsen matters, attempts by western countries through the UN through airstrikes and other forceful means have been vetoed by his ally – Russia, who’s also sustaining weapons sales to Syrian leader – Assad.

To compound matters, Islamic State ISIS terrorists, a very radical, fanatic, stronger and more radical offshoot of Al-Qaeda has emerged and has taken over a considerable part of Syria. This complication seems to be at the centre of what have sent Syrians on a practical exodus, daring and defying the seas and the waves, losing lives of same or relatives on the process. The sight of a drowned child was sufficient to broke hearts!

Who knows whether or not, this exodus isn’t a well orchestrated, and thought out plan by Islamists and Jihadists around the middle east to craftily and systematically infiltrate Europe. We can’t rule this possibility out.

Russia despite its support for the problem in Syria will not have any refugees nor will it offer any help, the western world, which the Muslim world hated with all their energies will provide help for them when they are in a political and economic mess.

Inasmuchas it’s good to be generous, one should neither be naïve nor foolish. One should be alert. Why are Saudi Arabia and other islamic countries not accepting them? They know those refugees may be trouble later on. What of their long term future? They have lived in countries with different cultures and religions. Won’t they have/create problems of adjustments et al in future?

America, Canada and Britain are not unmindful of the future of these refugees, as soon as they are comfortable in these countries dominated by christian values and freedom of religious worship, all in the name of freedom of religion, they may be porous to war on religion and Jihad movement.
Will they change and accept the values of their host or take advantage of the generosity of the porous western world? That will be what the future will tell from history, it may be a time-bomb awaiting detonation for those countries.

Be careful, Europe!

Catalunya : Football or freedom? By Manu’ba Eke

The head of the Spanish FA has recently posited this question, directing it towards the Spanish northern East region of Catalunya. Why? Well some of you might know by now. Spain is a country of regions with a central (geographical and governmental) seat of power in Madrid. These regions include Galicia, Andalusia, Basque, Catalunya and Murcia.

History and Politics

So quickly, Catalunya is an economic power house in Spain the capital of this region is Barcelona. It is THE powerhouse economically. They have the highest regional GDP in Spain, and is the hub for tech, industry and tourism. In short they’re bam. They have had a prickly relationship with (central) Spain for centuries, a highlight of which was the Spanish civil war (about 100 years ago) when their local language was banned by the then Spanish dictator General Franco and their local cultural practices including their history and local yellow and red flag (senyera) were so too.

The local Catalan league was abolished and Catalan clubs like FC Barcelona and Espanyol were forced to join the new La Liga. The Catalan people naturally felt very marginalised and disenfranchised. The only place where they felt they could speak up and speak out publicly was at the football stadium of FC Barcelona. Their then president Sunyol was very active against the military dictatorship which eventually led to his shooting and death.

Catalans have never felt accepted by Spain. They have a different language (but also speak Spanish), they have a different culture too. The way FC Barcelona was central to Catalan identity and against Spanish dictatorship led to the phrase “more than a club”. They had become a bastion of Catalunya.

Their current away kit has the Catalan flag embedded into the design on the back. These days at minute 17 and 41 seconds the home crowd begin to chant “independencia”; independence. It was in 1741 that Spain forcefully absorbed Catalunya into its territory. And the Catalans have not forgotten.

So to the issue at hand.

Catalunya is going to hold local elections this week and general elections in December. The ruling majority party there say if they win both elections they will declare independence from Spain (there is no certainty though that they will win majority seats in both elections).

Football and Scisms

The Spanish government has previously rejected a referendum on Catalunya. For two reasons. One, Catalunya will take their vast wealth with them, hurting the national economy. Secondly, more regions especially the also economically important Basque region will ask for same.

Eventually it could be another Yugoslavia (albeit bloodless). The Spanish FA has now said they will not allow FC Barcelona and Espanyol compete in la liga if independence is declared. For most Catalans, it’s a bigger issue than football. They have never felt Spanish, they have a different culture and language and economically they feel unfairly sanctioned (they pay 17 billion euros yearly to central government coffers). They want out, 57% at last polling.

If they get their way the issue of football comes to the table. Catalan players (Busquets, Pique, Alba, Aleix, Thiago) may not be allowed to play for Spain again. La Liga may exclude FCB and Espanyol. I say may in both cases cos its not likely, despite the recent press statement from the FA. Spanish football and the Spanish national team will lose out, as will Catalan football. I would suggest it’s a subtle form of emotional blackmail. But there are issues to consider IF it gets to that.

Actions and Reaction

What will happen to Barcelona and Espanyol if Catalunya won independence? A few options come to me.

Option 1. They stay in La Liga. This is the case with Swansea (Wales) in the English Premier League, Berwick Rangers (England) in the Scottish League and Monaco (Principality of Monaco) in French Ligue 1.

Option 2: they join Ligue 1 which is feasible with France just down the road, but with its own logistical challenge. Would these two Catalan clubs go down to Ligue 2 and work their way up or would they go straight into Ligue 1? If so would extra teams be relegated to accommodate this insert?

Option 3: Join the English Premier League. This is not as unrealistic as it sounds. A similar situation exists current in rugby. Catalan Dragons are part of the English Rugby Super League system despite being based in the Pyrennes; they are the only non English team in the division. The Premier League would consider it a coup to get FCB at least to join, but would they accept Espanyol as well?

Option 4: Stay put and reform a Catalan league. The Catalan league was banned by the Spanish authorities and the Catalan clubs were absorbed into the newly created La Liga. Years ago (cant remember the actual date). This would be an ideal option if a Basque-Pyrennes-Catalunya regional league was formed; with Atletico Bilbao, Levante, Real Sociedad, Marsielle, Monaco, Racing Santander, Bordeaux, Montpellier and Osasuna. The level of political upheaval to allow for this would be unprecedented, and unlikely.

Summary

Politics and sports continue to mix on a centre stage for all to see. Nothing changes then, just the players. Spain continues to be an interesting conversation, one of nationalism, self identity, culture and football. Barcelona is a cultural reference for Catalans, and leaving Spain will hurt them. Mind you not all Catalans follow or care for football to the same degree and not all Catalans care for independence. The question for those involved in this case then becomes; football or freedom? What would you choose?

ANGRY KWARANS AND WORSHIPPERS ATTACK BUKOLA SARAKI,EMIR,EX MINISTER,DIGNITARIES AT THE EID PRAYING GROUND IN ILORIN,KWARA STATE.

How I Died, Resurrected And Returned From The Land of the Dead, Akpabio Narrates

The former governor of Akwa Ibom State and senator, Mr. Godswill Akpabio has narrated what he went through after a road crash in Abuja. The accident involved his car and another belonging to the United States embassy in Nigeria. While speaking to a crowd on Wednesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the state, he said he was just coming from the ‘land of death’.

The senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and minority leader said for around one hour after the crash, he remained unconscious. He said:

“When that accident happened, I was rushing in the morning to join my daughter who was ill in her school abroad and when it happened I lost consciousness and all I shouted was God take care of my children and my people.”

He said he did not regain consciousness until he was taken to the National Hospital in Abuja only for him to open his eyes to see Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State by his side, an action that said moved him to tears.

He also said President Muhammadu Buhari called him on phone to wish him well while he was in hospital in London. Akpabio narrated:

“Let me place on record the support of President Buhari who did something extraordinary. The President called the hospital that I was in London. He called the hospital line, and said put me through to the Minority Leader of the Senate who is in your hospital. And they connected him. The room number was Room 215. And he spoke with me. He said, Akpabio we are praying for you. Insha Allah, it shall be well with you.”

On the ‘world-class’ hospital he built, he said the hospital he built in Uyo, the 20th Anniversary Hospital was better than the one he was admitted to in London but said it is yet to commence operations as the doctors are waiting for clearance from the immigration service of Nigeria:

“When people are talking about the 20th Anniversary Hospital, they should go there and find out, even the CT scan that I saw in London is not up to the one that you have in Uyo. That is the one they call 64 slides. Udom, the one that you have here is 640 slides. Ten times in magnification of what you have in Europe”.

On the DSS raid of the Akwa Ibom Government House, he said:

“They raided even your Government House to collect some of the money, but they did not find anything. The picture they are circulating was a picture taken in Iraq in 2011. That picture is on Google. If we have such money would I not build something greater than this (stadium)? Will I not build air-conditioners in all the streets so that when you are walking as an Akwa Ibom child you don’t need to fan yourself?”

He also took a swipe at his enemies saying:

“The wish of the enemy has been defeated. All the newspapers in Akwa Ibom State, tomorrow your headlines should be ‘Akpabio rises again’, ‘Akpabio rises again. Why will I not rise again when the governor has launched a very significant project in the state today, ‘Dakkada’?”

Bukola Saraki: Just like His Father ( Traitorship) by Zents Kunle Sowunmi

You may wish to read my books ” Ogun State Policy of Manipulation since 1976″ and “The Vultures and the Vulnerable ” for details of that Dr. Olusola Saraki Vs. Kotoye over the ownership of the bank.
